I’m obsessed with these rope leashes by Yellow Dog Design. Not only do they come in all the colors of the rainbow, but the are unbelievably durable. Milo will bite and pull on this leash and it has not even started to fray in the 3 years I have had it. Not to mention it’s covered by a year long warranty from fading, fraying or any defects that might occur. Whether it’s rain, snow, wind, mud or extreme heat these leashes have managed to withstand all the elements. A great gift for any outdoor adventure loving dog owner.

I absolutely love these 3D rectangular dog tags from Floofy and Pawsy. Made from aluminum and customizable, they can be designed to meet your specific needs. All four sides can be stamped with either numbers, letters or one of their graphics. You can have it say “microchipped”, “call my mom”, “free roamer” or anything else you desire to have written. They can also create customizable key rings and have an assortment of bandanas and bow ties in various prints if you like to dress up your pup. Not only do I love my tag for Milo but being that South Africa has become my second home, I love that they are a South African business.

I’ve been using the neon green collar for about two years now and it still works great.

Through browsing on Instagram I have recently discovered these unique drawings from Dogology Art. They are designed and drawn by South African artist Babet and I’m just loving her work. Simple and elegant, I love the contrast of the black and white portrait against the metallic gold halo. Whether it’s a silhouette or a portrait of your dog, the gold halo is placed in a creative way that suits the overall piece. Such a cool gift idea! I can’t wait to get one of my own.

For those who love running with their dog, a hands free leash can really enhance the experience. I love this retractable hands free leash by Paw Lifestyles. I don’t like running with bulk, so these small waist pockets are perfect for your phone, keys and of course waste disposal bags. There is a D ring on the waist if you want to clip anything extra like a small bag. It also has reflective threading throughout the leash to keep you safe if you like to run at night. One of my favorites.

This fleece dog blanket by Maasai Chief is such a special product. The Maasai Shuka is the traditional blanket of the Maasai Tribe who live in Kenya and parts of Tanzania. Sound familiar? You have probably heard of the famous Maasai Mara National Park. While the Shuka is most commonly seen in different variations of red, you can find them in all sorts of colors. I love mine and use it for everything, but it’s just a bit too thin for the dog. That’s why these fleece lined shukas make the perfect pet blanket and a unique and special gift.

Our friends at Barking Fellow have recently started making these beautiful collars made from shweshwe fabric. Shweshwe is a very popular printed and dyed cotton fabric traditionally used to make South African clothing. These collars are made in an assortment of bright and colorful patterns and are easily adjustable. They come in sizes small, medium and large but you can inquire about having a custom size made. They even make a matching leash and no pull harness. I have a beautiful green pattern collar and love it. They also sell an assortment of beaded Maasai collars so look for those too! Barking Fellow and Bellow Fellow are the same business so not to be confused when you get to their FB page.
